2019 Bard College Basketball Camp
About the Camp
Join the Bard College Raptors for a week of fun at basketball camp this summer! Campers will receive outstanding instruction and gain extraordinary experiences while developing their basketball skills. Guest speakers, contests, games and prizes are just a few of the highlights each week. The Bard College Summer Basketball Camp seeks to develop basketball fundamentals through creative individual teaching, group learning and lectures. Participants will have a new outlook on the game they love and will learn the necessary skills and strategies to take them to the next level. The camps provide valuable learning situations as well as building friendships with other regional basketball campers. Participants will be greeted by an energetic and enthusiastic staff along with guest speakers and demonstrators who will motivate and excite the campers throughout the week.
This program is designed for boys and girls ages 8-15, providing all campers with a complete basketball experience. Each day will be filled with instruction, games, competitions, lectures and more. Campers will receive a camp basketball, t-shirt and workbook as well as lunch in the dining hall, snacks and drinks. Our staff is filled with coaches and players of all levels, each bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience with them.
Adam Turner is an Assistant Athletic Director and Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Bard College. This is his tenth year working with the Raptors Basketball Camp, previously running the historic Pocono Invitational Basketball Camp for three summers. Turner is a former Raptors basketball star who finished his career as two-time All-American and the school’s all-time leading scorer. From there he joined the ranks of coaching as an assistant for the Raptors. Turner joined he prestigious Hoop Group in New Jersey as the director of the oldest basketball camp in the country and is excited to bring his love of teaching the game to the Bard Basketball Camps. His #1 goal is for each child to walk away with an experience that has been fun and transformed them into a better basketball player.
Andrew Makebish is the head coach of the Varsity Girl's Basketball Team at Red Hook School and a member of the Dutchess County Coaches Association of New York. He is a former standout player for the Red Hook Raiders and has coached and assisted at Red Hook for ten years where he was part of many league, sectional and regional championships. Makebish has been a director of basketball camps for the town of Red Hook as well as being a staff member of the Red Hook Hoops Camps. He has over 35 years of experience coaching and playing basketball. His philosophy is to provide quality instruction combined with personal attention to all campers. The overall experience is of great priority to the camp staff who follows a strong curriculum related to contemporary basketball skill and strategy development.
