Event Description

BOYS' GUARD & POST SCHOOL | 2019

GUARD SCHOOL is a teaching camp for a guard who is looking to take his or her game to the next level.  This camp features a detailed learning environment based on developing game applicable skills that “translate” into high frequency game situations.  The following high frequency game situations will be covered:

  • Advanced Ball Screen Techniques – Spacing and Skills
  • “In Game” Finishing Moves
  • Spot up Situation – Attacking the Closeout
  • Playing without the Ball in your hand
  • Decision Making in the Paint
  • Perimeter Footwork Series
  • “In Game” Dribble Moves – No Gimmics
  • Handling Pressure (Zone and Man)

LIVE "LAB" LEAGUE PLAY: At various times during camps, the two camps will combine to form teams for the Live “Lab” League Play.  During these competitions, both guards and posts will have a “laboratory” to test the skills and concepts they have learned throughout the camp.

VIDEO SESSIONS:   Clinics will feature video breakdown sessions of the specific skills and high frequency game situations that are being taught to further aid the learning process.

TESTIMONIALS:

“Coach Garnett’s Post-Guard School has been an integral part of our development over the past several years.  Coach Garnett truly cares about his campers and goes above and beyond to help each individual athlete improve.  If we had to choose one camp each summer, this would definitely be the one.”

Andy Copley (3x Texas State Champion) – Canadian Wildcats

"This camp is the best thing that has happened to summer basketball in my twenty years of coaching high school basketball.”

- Russell Perkins, Argyle High School
