Summer Camp Volunteer Program

Volunteers will develop leadership skills while assisting teachers during 2019 summer science day camps. This is an opportunity to participate in a volunteer program that will introduce students, 7th grade and up, to the world of volunteering in an environment that fosters a passion for science.

Camp counselors must be able to attend at least one of the two sessions. Counselors will be selected from a pool of applicants who complete the application process.

Job Description

♦ Interact with the campers in a positive manner during sessions and breaks.

♦ Provide general assistance during activities.

• Be an active participant in the class and lead by example.
• Assist with activities and help campers follow specific directions given by the teacher.
• Assist in supervision of the class during the activities.
• Contribute to the cleanup effort and encourage campers to help clean as well.
• Help set up the room with necessary materials; arrange tables, chairs, posters, props, etc.

♦ Assist during lunch and other breaks.

• Assist campers in unwrapping difficult food items (juice box straws, etc.)
• Help with the cleanup and be willing to clean spills, crumbs, etc.

 ♦ Assist with organizing bathroom breaks and keep campers together.
