2019 Tryout Prep Clinics

Separate from the Cheer Clinics, the Tryout Prep Clinics are geared towards individuals who plan on trying out for the GCU Cheerleaders! They are NOT mandatory, but are highly recommended!

Additional Details:

  • This clinic will be held in the GCU Lopes Performance Center (formally known as the Rec) located just northeast of Antelope Gym. Please park in the Halo Parking Garage off 35th Ave. 
  • The Tryout Prep Clinic will focus on the required tryout stunting and tumbling skills, concentrating on strong collegiate technique. Participants will also learn the GCU Fight Song and other Game Day material that will be evaluated at tryouts. 
  • All participants will receive written individual feedback from the GCU cheer coaching staff and veteran team members regarding technique, performance, and interview skills.
  • Participants will receive a packet with tips for college cheer team tryouts. 
  • This clinic will also include portions of the strength & conditioning assessment for tryouts to prepare for that segment of the tryout, in the environment of the tryout.
  • Participants at this clinic may submit their packet by hand. This is the only opportunity for in-person delivery.
  • These clinics are not mandatory to tryout for the GCU Cheerleaders, nor does it guarantee on a spot on the GCU Cheer Team.

Per NCAA rules, all sport camps and clinics conducted by Grand Canyon University are open to any and all entrants and enrollment is only limited based on age, grade level, gender, or number restrictions as specified by each camp.
