This unique camp is open to any field player who wants to become a better goals scorer and for goalkeepers who want to improve their craft. The camp will have both on-field and classroom sessions designed to help you become better on the mental, technical and tactical aspects specific to whether you are trying to score more goals or stop them from being scored.
On-field training sessions will be led by Oakland University’s Women’s Soccer coaching staff, and each session is designed to help you become a more effective and prolific goal scorer.
On-field training sessions for the goalkeepers will be led by Brain Diaz, Oakland University’s goalkeeper coach. The keepers will train with intense technical-tactical sessions to help improve their craft.
The mental training component will cover the important mental aspects to these specialized areas in soccer. The mental component for all soccer players is of critical importance, but there are unique challenges that keepers must overcome in order to be at their best. This is perhaps the most critical yet under trained area of a goalkeeper’s development and these mental training sessions will help enhance this part of your game.
Conversely, there are very important mental components to being a good finisher, and key practical exercises and tools will be shared to help the camper become better and more composed finishers and goal scorers.
Every participant at the Mental Training Camp for Goal Scorers and Goalkeepers will use the TAP assessment.
Additional Mental Training Component: A unique feature in our Mental Training Camp is that every participant will be able to take and use the TAP (Troutwine Athletic Profile) Assessment. You can find out more about the TAP assessment at http://takethetap.com/.
In 2017, Oakland Women’s Soccer partnered with the TAP, and our coaching staff and student-athletes are using this invaluable tool to help them understand and grow in mental toughness areas through several mindset developmental tools. This assessment is included in the cost of this camp as well so all registered participants will receive a direct link with instructions on how to take this test and will receive the report from TAP. This will allow you to take the TAP at your convenience and begin reviewing your results immediately.
All mental training aspects are led by Juan Pablo Favero. Besides leading the Oakland women’s soccer team, Favero also serves as a Sports Psychology Consultant and has worked with many other teams and athletes helping them with various mental training aspects. He holds a Master's degree in Counseling Psychology and has worked with business leaders and organizations. In addition, JuanPa has published several articles on Sports Psychology and Leadership topics.
