Event Description

Pee Wee Playmaker Camp

Soccer is the nation’s most popular sport for young people, and we have a camp built to cater to your young soccer player. This camp will focus on teaching the basic skills in a high- energy and fun-filled environment. By combining exercise with enthusiasm, we’ll work on starting footwork, beginning rules and first touches on the ball. Most importantly, we’ll make it all about doing your best and having fun as they learn to play soccer!

Items to bring

  • Bag (to hold water bottle, extra t-shirt, etc.)
  • Extra t-shirt
  • Flat shoes in case we are forced inside for an extended period
  • Snack. Many calories are burned over the course of three hours. About halfway through camp each day we will break for 10-15 minutes and get out of the sun. Your child is welcome to bring a snack, and in fact is encouraged to do so. You may also send a juice or sports drink as well. During snack time, we will open our concession stand and sell Gatorade for $1. Other various healthy snack items will be available as well (goldfish, popsicles, etc.) if you would prefer that your child purchase a snack instead of bringing one.
  • Water bottle. We will have plenty of water available, but I encourage you to bring a water bottle to refill as needed (we will not use paper/plastic cups).
  • Sunscreen. You may want to consider putting sun screen on your child each morning.
  • Write your name on everything. We will have a very large lost and found when the week ends.

Weather Policy
No matter what, camp will go on. Plan on meeting inside Schneider Stadium but if weather is nasty upon arrival, I will direct everyone to Ganfield Gymnasium or Van Male Fieldhouse (I will point you in the correct direction). We will do skill work until the weather allows us to go outside. In most cases, rain will not force us inside for very long.

Athletic Trainer
A student-athletic trainer will be on staff and will be inside the complex at all times. This person will take care of minor issues…cuts, scrapes, sprains, etc. The student-AT will hold inhalers and any other medical devices you wish. For more serious issues, the on-campus certified AT will be called or 911, as necessary.

Parents/Family Members at Camp
While you are certainly welcome to remain at camp from 8:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m., it has been my experience that it sometimes can create more of a distraction for your child. If you do stay, please utilize the upper-level of the Team Center. It’s out of the way and shaded. FRIDAY, however, I encourage anyone and everyone to attend camp. We will warm-up as normal with individual skills and then have some individual skill competitions. We will then have our Annual Water Gun Fight to celebrate a great week of camp. Around 10:15 a.m., we will begin our annual World Cup Tournament, and the campers love to have parents cheering them on!

Camp Groups
As we take the field on Monday, July 9th, the camp is split into age groups. We do a lot of playing Monday so that I, and the camp staff, can evaluate each group. The goal by the end of Monday or mid-morning Tuesday is to have the camp split into proper competitive groups. Please have patience on Monday as we complete the task. Please contact me ASAP if there is a fellow camper your child would like to be with, and I will try my best to accommodate.

Drop off and Pick up
Camp begins at 8:30 a.m. and ends at 10:30 a.m. each day. We will begin accepting campers to our facility beginning at 8:15 a.m. and ask that you arrange to have your child picked up by 10:30 a.m.

Monday Check-In
Our registration process is very simple. When you enter the complex, you will see the registration table. At check-in, you will a camp shirt. Your camper will also receive a ball on the final day of camp.  We will keep the balls until then so that your camper does not have to keep track of a ball or transport it all week.  We will also collect the waiver form. Additionally, we have a camp store where we sell snacks during break. If you would like to put money in the camp store for your camper to spend (so they do not have to carry it), you can do so here. There will be a quick introduction at the end of registration. It is not necessary for parents to stay for this, but you are welcome to do so if you would like.

Typical Camp Store Items

  • Gatorade
  • Granola bars
  • Fruit snacks
  • Bananas
  • Popsicles
