Camp Philosophy: For the past seven summers, our Gustie Soccer Co-Ed Youth Camp, run by IN2 Soccer, has been a positive resource for soccer players in Minnesota.  All campers will receive quality instruction, experience a positive learning environment and have fun during the week.  Each session focuses on individual skill training, progressing from drills to small-sided games.  We encourage players from various backgrounds and abilities to attend as we always strive to keep camp numbers smaller to allow for individual attention and coaching from our qualified staff.

Campers will be split up based on age and ability for the morning and afternoon sessions.  Evening games will be more integrated, however still split on age, level and skill set.  Some campers will even be exposed to playing 11v11 for the first time – one of the highlights of camp!

The camp staff meets after every session to ensure all campers are receiving appropriate age and skill level training.  Some movement may occur between training groups for the morning and afternoon session based on evaluation.  Teams during the evening sessions will be continually mixed up.

New in 2020: The Modern Game: Split Second Soccer
The game is played at optimum speed, which means players are finding themselves with less time on the ball, less time between passes and less time to make quality decisions. This year we will be focusing on becoming adept at controlling the speed of play by teaching the basics, teaching the basics at speed and teaching the basics with both feet.

Each session will focus on accomplishing the following:

  • Knowing when to increase tempo and when to slow the game down
  • Develop the skill of reading the game, anticipation and rapid, intelligent decision-making
  • Embed the art of deception
  • Cultivate bi-lateral capability

Facilities: Gustavus boasts four full-size soccer practice fields with extra space if needed. In addition, campers have use of the Olympic size pool, hot tub and athletic training room with certified athletic trainers.

What to Bring: Inflated soccer ball, athletic clothing including: shin-guards, cleats, tennis shoes, water bottle, bathing suit, notebook and writing utensil, bedding, toiletries, fan, snacks
